Globus provides the ability to share files securely and reliably with collaborators within their own organization or across institutions.

System administrators have access to a management console which provides a comprehensive view into user activity, along with usage reports, which provide historical information on managed and shared endpoints. Globus platform services enable developers to create applications that leverage the Globus identity, profile, file transfer, data sharing, search and automation capabilities.

Developers can use Globus to build applications and gateways by leveraging the platform’s advanced identity management, single sign-on, search, authorization, and automation capabilities. The open REST APIs and Python SDK enable developers to create an integrated ecosystem of research data services, applications and workflows.

Globus connects more than 1,600 institutions in over 80 countries. Since its launch in 2010 the service has grown to almost 200,000 registered users that reliably transfer over one petabyte of data daily.
