Chef exists to improve the lives of IT operators through software automation. We help teams collaborate effectively and adopt a DevSecOps approach in order to deliver and maintain infrastructure and applications that are nimble and secure by design.
Chef Software helps agencies become fast, efficient, and secure software-driven organizations by providing automation capabilities that deliver, manage and maintain secure and compliant infrastructure and applications.
Chef helps organizations “detect and correct” security issues across multiple and/or hybrid environments, move legacy applications to new platforms without rewriting them, and simplify infrastructure and application changes no matter how complex they are today. We are helping the Federal Government to become “coded enterprises,” in the race for digital excellence!
Chef software helps you solve these problems and achieve ATO faster, by incorporating compliance processes into every stage of the development cycle.
The open-source Chef language allows developers and systems engineers to replace lengthy & opaque security specification documents with unambiguous tests that are easily readable by all parties involved: security engineers, auditors, systems administrators, and others.
Chef provides a standard set of security baselines that you can easily customize and modify for program-specific use. Chef baselines include CIS Compliance Benchmarks and DISA STIGs. Chef can also convert existing, hard-to-use formats like SCAP XCCDF and Microsoft SCCM XML to human-readable language taking advantage of NIST baselines published in those formats.
The open-source Chef configuration management language can be used to remediate any findings and keep systems in their correct, remediated state, thereby ensuring continuous compliance.
Chef allows the collaboration between all parties involved in both the ATO process and production operations, the capability to see, in real-time, the compliance status of all their infrastructure in a single pane of glass. No longer do teams need to rely on expensive, infrequently-used tools accessible only to security engineers. With Chef, government IT can move from being reactive about compliance issues to being continuously compliant – and being able to prove it, not just at ATO but, any time.
