OARnet delivers technology-based solutions that reduce costs, increase productivity, and improve customer service. As a division of the Ohio Department of Higher Education's Ohio Technology Consortium, OARnet serves Ohio's education communities, public broadcasting, and state and local government entities.
Virtualization Benefits
Virtualization allows IT departments to create a virtual environment at the workstation, server, or data center level. With this virtualization technology, you can reduce the number of physical servers or computers, while still maintaining performance levels. Benefits include:
Under the new Broadcom model, all software licenses will be purchased on a subscription basis; perpetual licenses and perpetual support will no longer be available for purchase. You may download a list of available OARnet products; however, only a formal quote can confirm the most up to date pricing. View the price list.
Carahsoft:
All new subscriptions licenses are co-termed to the OARnet contract end date of 7/30/29. By procuring through OARnet, you are committing to paying for all purchased cores until 7/30/29. OARnet offers flexible payment options, including annual payments, for these purchases.
As a reminder, once licenses are purchased, they are non-returnable; therefore, we encourage you to reach out to your VMware Technical Account Manager (TAM) to discuss your environment and/or Carahsoft to obtain a formal quote prior to purchase.
VMware by Broadcom TAM Support
OARnet customers receive Broadcom Technical Account Manager (TAM) post-sale support at no additional cost. Broadcom TAMs deliver access to VMware experts and tools to help optimize the performance of your implementation. This service includes complimentary Health Analysis and Best Practice Review, Product Information, Upgrade Planning, Support Escalations, Broadcom Portal Permissions and monthly newsletter.
Your Broadcom TAM team can be reached at OARnet-tams.pdl@broadcom.com. The team consists of multiple TAMs who work as a group to cover all of OARnet.
Ohio's education, public broadcasting, and government communities voluntarily join the OARnet consortium. These organizations chose to participate in OARnet's shared services programs because of the benefits and value-added services they receive. They include:
Members of the State of Ohio Cooperative Purchasing (CO-OP) program may participate in purchasing VMware from OARnet. You may find more information regarding the CO-OP, as well as application instructions, at the following link: https://procure.ohio.gov/state-and-local-agencies/resources/cooperative-purchasing
