The Grant Reporting Efficiency and Agreements Transparency Act of 2019 (GREAT Act) will require higher education actions to meet the federal government’s intent to modernize grant reporting. This will help researchers and government officials understand the topics being submitted, allow researchers to see if others are submitting the same requests, and will reward successful performances of grant recipients.
Implementing data management changes take a significant amount of time and higher educational institutions need to ensure their grant pipelines remain solvent by taking proactive measures to discover, catalog, clean, govern, and master their grant data.
Attendees learned how the GREAT Act:
- Requires recipient-reported data collected from all agencies to be published on a single public website
- Reduces reporting complexity and compliance costs
- Increases transparency and strengthens Federal oversight & management
