Data is being generated faster than ever before, and effective research data management has become essential. Petabytes of data must be shared regularly with collaborators in multi-institutional settings, and the data oftentimes is needed for real-time analysis. All this translates into the need for novel tools and techniques to keep pace with these new requirements.
Globus is a non-profit software-as-a-service and platform-as-a-service developed and operated by the University of Chicago, used to move, share, and discover data via a single interface.
The Globus service is used by many leading non-profit and commercial research organizations, national laboratories, and government facilities worldwide, and is also integrated into many data portals, science gateways, and other web applications that manage data distribution from instruments and provide access to reference datasets.
Our mission is to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of researchers engaged in data-driven science and scholarship through sustainable software. Our development is funded by Argonne National Laboratory, the Department of Energy, NIH, NIST, NSF and the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, along with our subscribers.
