Avela is dedicated to providing every child with access to quality education. We partner with cities, districts, schools, and other educational organizations to offer an online portal that simplifies the application and registration process for parents. Our goal is to assist district leaders and administrators in enhancing enrollment, optimizing operations, supporting families, and advancing equity through evidence-based methods. Our platform is designed with equity in mind, ensuring all families, regardless of language, device, or abilities, can access educational programs.
We currently offer an enrollment suite with four key modules: Avela Explore (for finding schools and programs), Avela Apply (for applications), Avela Match (for lottery and admissions), and Avela Enroll (for registration and re-enrollment). These modules are mobile-optimized to provide a seamless experience for families. Our administrative tools are aimed at increasing staff productivity within educational organizations.
Looking ahead, we aspire to become a universal platform where families can navigate their child’s educational journey and apply to schools and programs with ease. Our vision is to serve as a "common app" for PK-12 education, allowing parents to use saved profiles to securely submit applications and necessary documents, such as birth certificates, proof of residency, income verification, and immunization records.
Our clients include public school districts (such as New Orleans, Seattle, Hartford, and Tulsa), charter enrollment nonprofits (like Oakland Enrolls and Newark Common App), education nonprofits (including Teach for America and Agenda for Children), and state/local governments (e.g., Philadelphia and Louisiana).
Founded in 2019 by Nobel Laureate Josh Angirst, Clark Medalist Parag Pathak, and Social Entrepreneur Greg Bybee, Avela aims to support districts in enhancing enrollment, optimizing operations, supporting families, and advancing equity through research-backed strategies.
