How Can the Government and Education Sector Improve Its Grades in Software Security Health?

Event Date: February 17, 2021

Hosted By: Veracode & Carahsoft

The past year has been challenging for several industries, including the government and education sector. Government organizations had to pivot their operations to a digital model and schools were forced to decide between hybrid or remote learning programs for their students.

These digital transformations have made application security (AppSec) more important than ever. But, in Veracode’s recent State of Software Security v11 (SOSS) report, we found that compared to other industries, the government and education sector has the highest percentage of applications with security flaws, the second-slowest fix rate, and the second-longest median time to fix flaws.

In this podcast, Eric Wassenaar, the Senior Account Executive of SLED at Veracode and Jason Phillips, the Senior Solution Architect at Veracode examine SOSS findings pertaining to the government and education sector.

"I think the organizations that are most successful with application security do take a hard look at the nature of their organization. And they in fact leverage that to their advantage." - Eric Wassenaar, Senior Account Executive of SLED, Veracode
