Carahsoft Ranked on 2018 Bloomberg Government 200 List of Federal Industry Leaders

Company rises in rankings for seventh consecutive year

RESTON, Va. – July 20, 2018 – Carahsoft Technology Corp., The Trusted Government IT Solutions Provider™, today announced that it has been named one of Bloomberg Government’s 200 Federal Industry Leaders for the seventh year since 2011. Carahsoft ranked #91 on the list, rising six ranks from 2017.

The seventh annual BGOV200 Federal Industry Leaders Study ranks the top federal contractors based on prime contracts awarded in fiscal 2017, including the top contracts at 24 agencies and departments in 27 different purchasing categories.

Overall, the study found that total contract spending during the previous fiscal year rose seven percent to $512 billion, the highest in five years since 2012. The top 200 companies listed by BGOV won 64 percent of this contract spend, a total of $327 billion. Following the passage of the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2018 in February, defense spending is expected to increase by $80 billion and non-defense spending by $63 billion in 2018.

“It is reassuring to see the industry’s continued growth as we enter the 2018 federal fiscal year end,” said Craig P. Abod, Carahsoft president. “The expanding opportunities across the federal marketplace provide Carahsoft and our reseller ecosystem more opportunities to meet agencies’ unique mission needs and modernize IT infrastructures with cutting-edge solutions and services from our technology manufacturer partners.”

“Consistent with recent years, most of the market moving companies in fiscal 2017 relied on spending in certain categories, such as information technology – which increased to $74 billion in fiscal 2017 from $69 billion in fiscal 2016, to improve their positions,” wrote Donald Thomas, Vice President and General Manager at Bloomberg Government LLC. “Fiscal 2017 marked the emergence of new acquisition methods, such as a rise in the use of other transaction authority for acquiring research and prototyping acquisitions and establishment of a revolving capital fund for managing agency IT projects. Those acquisition methods have been widely popular and may have more of an impact on future BGOV200 results.”
