The amount of data generated by enterprises is expected to increase by a factor of 50 over the next decade according to IDC1, and as a result enterprises face the growing challenge of protecting and controlling access to larger volumes of sensitive data. This paper explains how Vormetric Encryption V5 combines performance tuning with support for the latest hardware cryptographic acceleration technology to reduce the computation cost of encryption. Benchmarking done in collaboration with Intel and IBM demonstrates encryption performance overhead reduced to near zero, enabling enterprises to better use ‘off the shelf’ compute power to meet service level agreements, minimize overhead on server systems, and encrypt larger volumes of data.
